Hatchback wars are heating up in India and this applies especially to Volkswagen Polo GT TSI and the newly launched Ford Figo as they will face stiff competition from the Abarth Punto which is expected to be launched soon. From price, looks to performance engines, everything counts today for the demanding Indian buyer. Hatchbacks these days are getting better in terms of technology, features and design and zeroing-in on the perfect one is getting tougher for buyers.

We have compared these three cars across 4 features and drawn an analysis for you to get an idea which one to choose according to the requirements:

1. Volkswagen Polo GT TSI vs Ford Figo vs Abarth Punto Price: To survive the stiff competition, pricing is one of the most important factors. Volkswagen Polo GTI is priced at Rs 8.4 lakh and Ford Figo top model comes at the price of Rs 7.1 lakh.

With Abarth Punto yet to be launched, the price is expected to be somewhere under 10 lakh because the price of the other two cars is under that amount.

2. Volkswagen Polo GT TSI vs Ford Figo vs Abarth Punto Design: The Volkswagen Polo GT TSI has the typical looks which it carries forward from its previous generations. There are no rear disc brakes and it has the normal silver alloy wheels. The GT badging is present all around the car. Except for GT badge, the Polo has nothing new on offer in looks and design and you need to have the car enthusiast eye to actually notice the GT badge.

The new Ford Figo, on the other hand, comes with Aston Martin styled front grille giving you the feel of driving a supercar at the price of a hatchback. The colours of new Figo are mostly taken from the to be launched in India-Ford Mustang.

Appearance wise, the Abarth Punto EVO has signature insignias on the bonnet and the rear end. The car has a sporty appearance, it has scorpion pincer alloy wheels which give the vehicle a mean look and the dual black and red paint add to the sportiness of the vehicle. The red colour is present in the ORVMs too. The front grille has a red accent and the front and rear bumpers get the red colour garnishing as well. Disc brakes are present in all four wheels.

It comes mated to a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission along with cruise control first in any hatchback. This German hatch sprint from 0-100kmph in 9.7 seconds of time. Out of the three, Abarth Punto has the best power output and Figo has the best in class fuel efficiency.

Figo has a 1.5-litre TiVCT petrol engine which generates a power of 111bhp lesser than that of Punto and a torque of 136Nm. It comes mated to a six-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. The car goes from 0-100kmph in around 11 seconds.

Under the hood, Abarth Punto EVO has a 1.4 litre T-Jet Turbo petrol engine which produces the power output of 145bhp and peak torque of 212Nm. It comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Actually 9.72 seconds for 0-100 is for Figo and not Polo. Look below link of Figo Aspire which shares same engine for new Figo aswell.
