Production at the two plants of Maruti Suzuki resumed on Tuesday, after being suspended from the second shift of Saturday.

The production loss from the suspension will be around 10,000 units for the company as its combined capacity at the Manesar and Gurgaon plants is around 5,000 units per day.

“Maruti Suzuki India has resumed production of vehicles at its facilities in Gurgaon and Manesar, starting Tuesday, February 23 (second half). The supply of components has started gradually,” the company said in a statement.

The Company had to suspend operations at its facilities from Saturday, February 20 (second half) as supply of certain components was disrupted due to pro-reservation protests in Haryana.

Shares of Maruti Suzuki on Tuesday closed 0.87% lower at R3492.50 on the BSE.

Lower number of working days had a significant impact on Maruti’s domestic sales in January, as it reported a growth of less than 1%, citing lower number of production days compared to other months.

Curfew on Tuesday remained in force in Hissar, Hansi and Bhiwani towns in Haryana while a four-hour relaxation was given in the worst-hit Rohtak district as chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar visited the town.
