Skoda India that hasn’t launched a new vehicle for quite a long time, is now planning to bring in the new Superb on February 23, 2015. The third-generation Skoda Superb is based on Volkswagen MQB platform on which the Audi A4 and Volkswagen Passat too are built.
Already on sale in some markets, the new Skoda Superb lot more spacious and up-market than the current version. The new model of the saloon is claimed to weigh 75 kg less than before. While the European model features a range of petrol and diesel engines, the India-bound model will most probably get the 2.0-litre petrol & diesel engines. Transmission options on offer could be be a 6-speed DSG automatic, 7-speed DSG automatic and a 6-speed manual.
Taking some of its design bits from the Vision C Concept, the new Skoda looks edgier than the current-gen version. Some key features on offer will be panoramic sunroof, bi-xenon head-lamps with LED-daytime running lamps, LED tail-lamps, new infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.
To be brought in via completely knocked down (CKD) route, the new-generation Skoda Superb is expected to br priced around Rs 25 lakh.
