Luxury carmaker Mercedes Benz today launched two variants of its G-Class SUV, GLE 250 d priced at Rs 58.9 lakh and GLE 350 d priced at Rs 69.9 lakh.
Previously known as M-class, Mercedes has re-launched it but changed the nomenclature to GLE.
Roland Folger, MD & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, said, “We expect our SUV segment to grow the fastest by 70% in the Jan-Sep 2015 period. To add to customers excitement, we are offering the GLE in the 250 d and 350 d variants – both the SUVs will be manufactured in our Pune facility.”
Exterior: The Mercedes-Benz GLE has an upright radiator trim, two sculpted louvers, front bumper with diamond grille and new LED headlamps in front and an exhaust system with tailpipe trim elements, two-piece tail lights, brake lights and reversing lights all in LED.
Interior: Mercedes GLE has a 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel and comfortable seats for long journeys and optimal lateral supports, claims the carmaker.
Engine: GLE 250 d 4MATIC (permanent all-wheel drive system) comes with output of 150 kW (204 HP) and 500 Nm torque while GLE 350 d 4MATIC is equipped with 190 kW (258 HP) and 620 Nm, as detailed by Mercedes.
“The addition of the versatile GLE comes at the right time and will add to our brand’s winning SUV portfolio. The start of local production of both the variants of the GLE simultaneously, is a key decision that will enable us address the demand of the SUV in foreseeable future,” Folger added.
Mercedes Benz has already sold over 6,000 GLEs in India and has produced 1.6 million units globally.
