Mercedes-Benz India finally launched the much-anticipated Mercedes-AMG GT S in the country today at Rs 2.40 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). The AMG GT S, a more powerful version of the AMG GT, was launched in the presence of Bernd Schneider – the most successful DTM driver of all time with a total of 43 victories. The Mercedes-AMG GT S has come as a replacement for the SLS AMG.
Set to take on the likes of Jaguar F-Type, Porsche 911, Audi R8 and other cars in the performance category, the Mercedes-AMG GT S is built on the smaller version of the SLS AMG’s platform. This platform is claimed to be lighter and stiffer than the one that used to underpin the SLS AMG.
Power for the Mercedes-AMG GT S comes from a 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo engine that is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch Gertarg transmission. This engine develops a whopping 503bhp and 600Nm. The engine helps the vehicle touch the 100km/h mark from standstill in mere 3.7 seconds with an electronically limited top-speed of 310km/h.
The Mercedes-AMG GT S is smaller than the SLS AMG with 4546mm length, 1288mm height, 1939mm width and 2630mm wheelbase.
