Mahindra & Mahindra that had to stop sales of its cars like Scorpio and Mahindra XUV500 due to the Supreme Court’s ban on vehicles featuring engines above 2000cc, today announced the launch of mHawk 1.99-litre diesel unit.
The new diesel engine is the downsized version of the mHawk 2.2-litre engine that does duty on the regular modes of both the SUVs. The 1.99-litre engined models of the SUVs will be made available very soon. While the 1.99-litre mHawk diesel engine will produce 120bhp for the Mahindra Scorpio, it will deliver 140bhp with the XUV500.

Mahindra’s newly introduced mFALCON engine family will also have two new diesel engine below 2000cc, and will power several of Mahindra’s upcoming cars. The smallest engines of the mFALCOn family – 1.2-litre petrol & diesel – were recently launched with the Mahindra KUV100.
