The much anticipated Hyundai Cross Elite i20 Active has finally been launched in India at a starting price of Rs. 6.38 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). Hyundai has released a total of five variants, the top end diesel being tagged at Rs. 8.89 lakh. Launched amid huge pomp and show, the all new Hyundai i20 Active is expected to do well in the market.
Unlike many of the new cars that are generally being offered for pre-bookings, Hyundai did not adopt that process for the Hyundai Crossover as the genre has limited buyers.
As far as highlights of the Hyundai i20 Active are concerned, the car has been restyled on every front from exterior, interiors, safety to comfort in order to differentiate it from hatch sibling. The reworked front grille dissimilar to Hyundai’s standard signature grille gives a new appearance to the car. Further, the redesigned front & rear bumper along with large round frog-eye like fog lamps edify the beauty of the crossover. The elegance of i20 Active is maintained with the help of all black plastic cladding and daytime LED running headlamps. In addition to this, a new set of 16 inch alloy wheels and height increment by 20mm have further added to the better ride experience. The ride height adjustment has also resulted into better ground clearance which is now 190mm.
Talking about the inner beautification of Elite i20 Active, the car is elegantly decorated with the help of all black interiors with athletic orange accents near steering wheel, around AC vents and gear lever in one option and in the other variant, it is being offered with blue and black interior scheme. To sum up, the car is basically designed to appeal a chunk of young customers that wish to live an Active lifestyle.
In terms of power, the all new i20 Active Cross has given the same engine specs of its hatch sibling. Where the petrol variant gets a 1.2-litre, Kappa, dual VTVT engine capable to deliver 83PS power and 114 Nm torque, the diesel car gets its power from a 1.4-litre, U2, CRDi mill that is able to belt out 90 PS and 220 Nm of max torque. Transmission in the Cross has been taken cared by a six speed manual gearbox in diesel variant and 5 speed manual gearbox in petrol variant.
The Hyundai Crossover launch has beaten Maruti Suzuki which is expected to launch the S-Cross.
The rivalry, as far as Hyundai i20 Active is concerned, is going to be from Cross-Polo, Etios Cross and Fiat Avventura.
