Amazon India on Friday said it is extending its payments and logistics services to other Indian firms, selling their products and services through e-commerce.
With the new service, Indian companies that want to sell through their own websites, can now use Amazon’s payment services, and also ship their orders using Amazon’s logistics unit, the company said in a statement. This would allow businesses to grow faster while at the same time keeping their costs low by outsourcing their payments, logistics, transportation, and customer care services offered by Amazon, it said.
“We have made it simple and easy for them to outsource their payments and fulfillment processes and enabled them focus on their core business,” Amit Agarwal, Vice President and Country Manager, Amazon India, said in that statement.
For Indian firms, this would mean using Amazon India’s services for accepting payments, and shipping their orders, without incurring additional costs for setting up their own systems. For Amazon India, the service would mean an expansion and better utilization of their in-house services by offering at a fee, that would translate a separate line of revenue, apart from its core online sales.
