Yogi Adityanath Varanasi visit: Just 2 days after the button was pressed by President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to roll out Goods and Services Tax (GST) across India to bind it into one economic unit, from the earlier fragmented one, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is heading for PM’s constituency Varanasi. While the agenda is not clear yet, voices on the immediate impact of the new tax regime would be something that the Gorakhpur strongman will be paying heed to and also carrying that information for further dissemination. Varanasi has acquired increasing political and economic importance over the recent years, especially after PM won the election from here. The area is also at the Centre of numerous development projects that are expected to change its face for the better as well as herald economic welfare for the masses, including the creation of jobs.
Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government is expected to spend 2,500 crore on preparations for the Ardh Kumbh which will be held in Allahabad in January 2019. Of the Rs 2,500 crore, the Centre will provide Rs 900 crore. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has appointed Uttar Pradesh Urban Development Minister Suresh Khanna as the minister in-charge of the Ardh Kumbh preparation. According to the preparation plan, the state government will use the funds for the development of the Allahabad airport, modernisation of railway stations in and around Allahabad, construction of new bus terminals and installing new traffic lights and CCTV cameras in the city.
According to an Indian Express report, the government has decided to merge the Smart City and AMRUT Mission for Allahabad. This has been done to improve the condition of civic infrastructure in the city. The government has decided to create a special purpose vehicle for this project and the Urban Development Ministry will release Rs 500 crore for the project at the earliest.
