The United Nations (UN) has warned that Yemen is on the brink of famine due to months of conflict in the country.
Head of the UN’s World Food Programme (WFP) Ertharin Cousin said that Yemen markets do not have sufficient food to feed the people in the country, the BBC reported.
Due to the ongoing violence, even aid agencies are unable to reach the areas that require basic amenities.
The WFP estimates that nearly 13 million people urgently require help.
The conflict is a result of clashes between Houthi rebel fighters and forces loyal to the Saudi-backed Yemeni government and its allies.
