As management and NDRF continue with the rescue and evacuations in flood stricken Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, the schools will remain closed for some time. With the flooding of the states, both life and property are affected in large numbers. In Uttar Pradesh, the famous cities Varanasi and Allahabad are the worst affected. Keeping the serious condition in view, the state authorities have announced the Schools in Allahabad to remain closed till August 27 (Saturday).
The houses have submereged and people are being evacuated by lift up boats and other means. The Indian Army along with NDRF is managing the situation so far. 25 districts of Uttar Pradesh are hit by the overflowing of the rivers that has led to the floods. So far, 12000 people have been rescued as the toll is still on rise. The PM’s constituency is struggling as well. Varanasi, known for its holy value has shut down all cremation ghats, opting for narrower lane substitutes in some cases. People are now burning the dead bodies at home top because of lack of options.
Considering all the risk factors and the MeT department’s forecast of more rains in the upcoming days, all schools have been closed down till the weekend.
