India’s leading IT company Wipro has filed a FIR against unknown sources a day after receiving a threat letter from an unidentified source, reported news agency ANI on Saturday evening. As per the report, the company has tightened security measures at all its office locations after the threat.
“Have augmented security measures at all our office locations. There is no impact on the company’s operations”, Wipro was quoted as saying by the news agency in a tweet. As per the newsminute.com, the company had received an email threatening a bio-terror attack if Rs. 500 crore was not paid in the digital currency of bitcoins.
Meanwhile in April, the company muted IT revenues over the next quarter on the back of a hit to its business because of the move by the new US Government to repeal Obamacare, an Indian Express report said. However, the company do not see any impact on its business from the executive order by President Donald Trump to review H-1B visa norms for tech workers.
Last month, the company announced a gross revenue of Rs 13,990 crore for the March quarter, a 2.6 percent year-on-year growth. As per the report, Wipro’s net income for the quarter stood at Rs 2,260 crore, which was s surge of 1 percent from the year-ago period, said the report.

The company’s revenue from IT services segment for the March quarter was up by 4.7 per cent year-on-year in rupee terms to Rs 13,400 crore. For 2016-17, Wipro recorded an 8.4 per cent YoY growth at Rs 52,840 crore. The profit for the segment was almost flat at Rs 2,530 crore, the Indian Express report further said.
