Samajwadi Party leaders Mulayam Singh Yadav and his son Akhilesh Yadav surprised many by attending the oath-taking ceremony of new Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Their gesture was well appreciated, as BSP Supremo Mayawati and Congress leaders skipped the meet. While Yogi’s oath-taking was a historic moment for the BJP in Uttar Pradesh, one scene from the venue that set the tongues wagging was Mulayam whispering something to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After that, PM Modi was seen patting the back of Akhilesh and all of them were smiling.
Modi and Akhilesh had a bitter election campaign against each other and it wasn’t expected they would bond so well, at least publicly. However, the sight of Modi patting Akhilesh after Mulayam’s whispering made many people make wild guesses about about what the latter may have said to the PM. Interestingly, the incident also triggered many memes on social media, while no body exactly knew what Mulayam told Modi.
Well, it now seems that the mystery is over. Quoting a senior BJP politician, who was standing near them, The Telegraph today reported what actually transpired between the trio. Mulayam told Modi “Thoda Akhilesh Ka Khayal Rakhiye (Please take care of Akhilesh),” the BJP leader told the daily.
When Modi shook hands with Akhilesh, Mulayam also said, “Inko sikhaiye” (teach him), the BJP leader said. Keeping behind bitter memories of being allegedly sidelined by Akhilesh from Samajwadi Party, Mulayam once again proved to be a doting father. Following the bitter campaign and BJP’s historic win, it was expected that BJP would take action against the alleged corruption cases in Akhilesh Yadav’s previous government. Mulayam apparently tried placate the BJP. He may have been requested to do so by Akhilesh.
By sharing the stage along with father Mulayam, Akhilesh showed he is a mature politician and that he would remain in politics for the long run.
