In a bid to revive Congress in Uttar Pradesh for the upcoming elections in 2017, party Vice-President Rahul Gandhi has embarked upon a 2500-km long Kisan Yatra from Deoria. Started on September 6, the yatra is aimed to “secure the rights of the poor, farmers and labourers in government resources.”

While addressing a crowd in Jalaun, the Gandhi scion while attacking the BJP-led government says, “I will tell you the truth about Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We asked in the House, that you the incumbent government had promised that 2 crore youth will get employment. How many of them got it? However, only 1 lakh youth population in the entire country has got employment. PM Modi is busy visiting foreign countries. At times he is seen getting clicked with the Prime iMnister of China and on other occasions with somebody else. You people chose a prime minister, but you got a selfie machine.”

Moreover, while holding the Modi-led central government accountable for Uri attack, Congress vice-president on Tuesday said that NDA has no strategy to handle hostile situations in Jammu & Kashmir. Rahul attacked BJP for its alliance with People Democratic Party(PDP) in Kashmir. “PM Modiji’s short-sighted alliance with PDP opened space for terrorism in Kashmir, our soldiers have died and I condemn that,” said Rahul in a letter posted on his Twitter account. While taking a swipe at PM Modi, Rahul also added that the issue of Kashmir will not be solved by clicking selfies or giving ou sound bytes.
