All the lucky winners have been asked to confirm their winning lottery numbers with a copy of the result published in the Kerala Government Gazette and submit the tickets within 30 days to claim their prize money.

In a recent update, the government has decided to levy 28 per cent goods and services (GST) tax on lottery tickets. As per a report by India.com, the lottery industry in India stands tall as a 5,000 cr industry and till now the states that allowed lotteries have had negligible or zero tax charged on them.

After the GST implementation, the government is now looking to tax all the three major components of a lottery including the prize money, the operators’ profit and government’s income. However, many media reports say that lottery providers are not happy with the move as the prize money already falls under the standard income tax slab.
