In a bid to improve state’s infrastructure, the Yogi Adiyanath-led Uttar Pradesh government has now decided to revamp various parks and memorials which were developed during the Mayawati government from 2007-2012. As per a report by Indian Express, funds of around Rs 10 crore have been approved for the repair and constructional works approved for the projects. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) had accused the Samajwadi Party (SP) party government of neglecting the projects which were developed at a cost of Rs 6,000 cr in the honour of BSP supremo.
Mayawati, on May 13, had said that if the incumbent chief minister was concerned about Kanshiram and the cause selected by him, then he should make sure about the upkeep of these parks and memorials of the state.
Speaking to Indian Express, Jaishankar Dubey, secretary, Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) informed that the work of repairing lights at the Kanshiram Memorial has already begun and works in other memorials will start soon. The report also stated that money allotted for the maintenance work will be released from the Rs 120 cr corpus created by the Mayawati government for this purpose.

The committee which included Memorials, Sthals and Institutions Management, Protection and Maintenance Committee was formed by the former BSP government with an aim to maintain all memorials in Lucknow. “The government had directed it to write to agencies engaged in the project to complete the pending work,” an LDA official told Indian Express.
Recently Mayawati had lashed out at UP CM Adityanath soon after the statement that his government would deal with criminals in the language they understand. The BSP supremo had said that current government appears to be ignorant of the fact that only the language of law is required to deal with criminals. “This government has clearly failed to fulfil its foremost constitutional duty of providing peaceful and secure life to the people,” PTI quoted Mayawati saying in a party release.
