In the aftermath of a suspected cow slaughterer beaten up by locals in the presence of the police, the Samajwadi Party (SP) on Saturday said within two months of the new government being formed, the law and order situation has been demolished in the state. Speaking to ANI here, Samajwadi Party leader Juhi Singh, while condemning the incident asserted that primarily, the police, who were witness to this need, should be punished. “All of a sudden, these so-called ‘gaurakshaks’ enter people’s houses and beat them up. Police are standing there crippled instead of taking an action. The government’s representatives need to very seriously consider reviewing the law and order situation in the state,” she said.
Subtly hinting at the inefficiency of the present Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) government in Uttar Pradesh led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Juhi further said during the Samajwadi Party Government, all constitutional arrangements were in place to make sure that people do not take law and order into their own hands. “Listen to the Prime Minister and your Chief Minister,” Juhi urged the ministers, party workers and representatives.
