Indian youth Sameer Patel, who hails from Patan, Gujarat, was shot at in a departmental store in Atlanta, USA on Monday night, ANI reported The youth, who was rushed to the hospital after suffering bullet injuries, is now in a critical condition. According to reports, Patel, who was an employee at the store, was closing down when two unknown persons barged in and shot at him and then stole the money from the cash register.

Earlier a 26-year-old man Telangana man had been shot in California. The man, who went by the name of Mubeen Ahmed was shot after an argument at a departmental store and had suffered severe injuries. He had been admitted to a nearby hospital. According to reports, Mubeen had gone to the United States of America in 2015 to pursue a Masters degree from the University of California. Earlier, last month, an Indian-American doctor, Ramesh Kumar was discovered dead in a car in Michigan. According to the Indian Express, the 32-year-old had been shot dead in the car in a rest area, 90 miles away from Detroit.

The number of hate crimes against Indians and people of mixed colours has increased in the United States in the recent months. Earlier in February, an Indian engineer had been shot dead while another was injured after a retired American Navy officer had opened fire at a bar in Kansas City. According to Indian Express, he shouted “terrorist” and “get out of my country” as he opened fire at the both of them.
