Following the terrorist attack on the Line of Control near Uri on Sunday, Lt Gen Ranbir Singh told the media that the weapons recovered from the site had Pakistani markings. The army investigation on the attack revealed that the terrorists that carried out the attack belonged to the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed. Singh said that he had spoken to his Pakistani counterpart about the weapons involved having Pakistani markings.
Speaking to the media he said that foreign terrorists were behind the attacks. He revealed that the initial reports of the investigation found out that the four AK 47, four Under Barrel Grenade Launchers and all other weapons had the markings of Pakistan on them. He further stated that the Indian Army is ready to give a befitting reply to Pakistan. Lt gen Singh assured that the Indian army is prepared for any evil design by the adversary. He informed the media that the terrorists had fired incendiary ammunition that led to the army tents catching fire.
Of the 17 martyrs, 13-14 were caused due to this fire, he added. Earlier on Sunday, heavily armed terrorists sneaked the office of the infantry battalion from behind in the town of Uri killing 17 soldiers and injuring 10 others. 4 terrorists were also slain during the gunfight that lasted for 3 hours. Meanwhile, nationwide protests have begun with anti-Pakistan slogans. People all over the country are condemning the attack and demanding that strict actions be taken against the neighbouring country. USA and France have also extended their support to India in the time of such a crisis
