Uri attack: India will not be cowed down by such incidents, says President Pranab Mukherjee

President Pranab Mukherjee while condemning the attack said that India will not be cowed down by such attacks and will thwart the evil designs of terrorists.

The Indian Army today suffered one of the biggest attack on them. In the wee hours of Sunday, heavily armed militants stormed a battalion headquarters of the Army in North Kashmir’s Uri town killing 17 jawans and injuring 19 other personnel in the strike in which four terrorists were neutralised. President Pranab Mukherjee while condemning the attack said that India will not be cowed down by such attacks and will thwart the evil designs of terrorists.

Tweeting about the incident, President said, “Heartfelt condolences to families of those bereaved in Uri terrorist attack; prayers for speedy recovery of injured. India will not be cowed down by such attacks, we will thwart the evil designs of terrorists and their backers.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday also tweeted that perpetrators of the attack will not go unpunished and that all those who lost their lives while fighting will always be remembered.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that he is disappointed with Pakistan’s continued and direct support to terrorism and terrorist groups. Singh, while condemning the attack that caused the death of 17 jawans, tweeted, “Pakistan is a terrorist state and it should be identified and isolated as such. I am deeply disappointed with Pakistan’s continued and direct support to terrorism and terrorist groups.” He further added that those who attacked Uri, were highly trained, heavily armed and specially equipped.
