Addressing a huge crowd at Azamgarh, Mayawati in her second election rally in Uttar Pradesh told the people that the current government would never do anything for the Dalit community. Accusing PM Modi and his party of being Anti-Dalit, she recalled the suicide of Rohith Vermula, the PhD student who committed suicide after he stopped receiving his fellowship of Rs.25000 allegedly after his “increased involvement in Ambedkar Students Association (ASA).” Mayawati also talked about the Una incident where four Dalits were thrashed following rumours of cow-skinning by them, allegedly by the ‘gau rakshaks’. Mayawati added that the community was living under constant threat by them.
Mayawati also accused Samajwadi Part of for not being able to control the crime against women in the state. Taking a dig at BJP, Mayawati said that the party is desperate and is hence taking candidates who have either left BSP or have been expelled. “BJP has no candidate in UP, that is why they are including people who have either left her party, or are expelled.”
She also accused the party at the centre of working for the capitalists.
