Prime Minister said he remembered Dave as a devoted public servant, who was tremendously passionate about protecting the environment. PM Modi tweeted ''Anil Madhav Dave ji will be remembered as a devoted public servant. He was tremendously passionate towards conserving the environment.''

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, through Twitter, condoled the death of Union Environment Minister Anil Madhav Dave at the age of 60. Prime Minister Modi tweeted, ”Absolutely shocked by the sudden demise of my friend & a very respected colleague, Environment Minister Anil Madhav Dave ji. My condolences.”

PM Modi tweeted that he was with Dave till late last night, discussing key policy issues, he added that Dave’s demise is a personal loss.

The Prime Minister said he remembered Dave as a devoted public servant, who was tremendously passionate about protecting the environment. PM Modi tweeted ”Anil Madhav Dave ji will be remembered as a devoted public servant. He was tremendously passionate towards conserving the environment.”

Anil Dave was a sitting Rajya Sabha MP from Madhya Pradesh, Dave had taken charge as Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change (Independent Charge), on July 06, 2016, following a reshuffle in the Modi Cabinet. The late minister was very passionate about environmental projects, including conservation river Narmada.

Dave had not been able to completely recover after suffering from pneumonia, he had contracted the illness in January of this year.

Along the years Anil Dave held several posts which included, Member of many parliamentary committees. He had also served as the Chairman for the Select Committee of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Bill, 2013 as well as Chairman, Select Committee on Coal Mines (Special Provision) Bill, 2015.

Dave has also authored several books on various subjects including environment and climate change. He had written books such as Beyond Copenhagen; Yes I Can, So Can We; Creation to Cremation; rafting through a civilization: a travelogue.
