Ahead of Gandhi Jayanti, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has unveiled a new idea to pay tribute to the Father of the Nation on his birthday this year. The PM, on Friday, took to social media and appealed to people to celebrate the special day as “Swachh October 2” in order to promote Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The cleanliness campaign was started on October 2, 2014, by the Modi government to keep the country clean. As the campaign is about to complete its three years, PM Modi tweeted, “Happy to see strong enthusiasm towards #SwachhataHiSeva movement. I congratulate all those taking part in various cleanliness initiatives.” He further asked people to start an innovative campaign in the virtual world to create inspiration among others towards cleanliness.

In next tweet, he shared a video, in which he urged people to create an atmosphere of cleanliness in the entire country. In three minutes 34 seconds video captioned “I urge my fellow citizens to devote time to #SwachhataHiSeva & work towards building a clean India. This would be the best tribute to Bapu”, the PM said that the dedication towards cleanliness should become a permanent feature in the society. In the video, he asked people to take it as a cleaning drive for upcoming festive season. He said that everyone should work for cleanliness with such an intensity that this 2nd October becomes a day worth remembering.

The PM also unveiled a separate scheme included in mygov.in website by Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation and that is for everyone to upload the names of persons and families who have either constructed a toilet or have inspired others to do this. Along with it, he asked people to share essays, short movies, paintings, etc on cleanliness on the website. The best three district level and state level will be awarded, said the PM in the video.

It was followed by another short video clip of 55 seconds captioned, “How are you working towards a clean India…share your pictures with me, on the NM App. #SwachhataHiSeva nm4.in/dnldapp”. For more information, you can either give a missed call on 18002090920 or log in to mygov.in, as mentioned the video.
