In a chilling revelation, Ritu Chhabra, the principal of the Swami Vivekanand Public School at Fountain Chowk in Yamunanagar who was shot by the student of her school 4 times in Haryana on Saturday afternoon reportedly screamed, “Mujhe bachao, mujhe bachao (save me),” while she was being taken to the hospital. According to a report by The Indian Express, Ritu who was shot by a Class 12 student of the school with a .32 bore gun in her office kept asking to be saved as she was taken in an ambulance to the Swami Vivekanand Multi-Speciality Hospital. However, the 47-year-old teacher passed away as the bullets had pierced her heart, abdomen and chest, and the doctors in the hospital could not save her.

Meanwhile, a local court has sent the boy to 2-day police remand. The weapon used to commit the crime was reportedly a licensed gun which belonged to the boy’s father who is a local financier and property dealer. He was sent to jail after being booked under the Arms Act for leaving his weapon lying around.

The police said that the boy accepted that he had committed the crime. “The boy has so far told us that the teacher had warned him that he will not be given a roll number slip and he won’t be allowed to appear for his practical exams as well for not attending classes regularly,” SHO Yamunanagar police station (city) inspector Om Prakash said.

The teacher was cremated on Sunday morning. She served at this school for 19 years and her two sons also studied there. Her elder son Ritesh, who is working in Kolkata after his BTech, flew down for the last rites. Her younger son is also doing a BTech course.

The boy was caught by one of the school attendants after shooting the principal. The police said he fell down as he was running away and was injured in the face and head. SHO Om Parkash alleged that he tried to fire at the attendant too.

Teacher's are showcased as the slaves for children in the present education system under the name of student centered education. The educational practices that are tough to the teachers and the emotional behavior of present generation are in noway comparative. I praise the God to rest in peace of the great soul who served the school for 19 years.
