In a unique case of robbery, 900 iPhone 5S, with an estimated value of Rs. 2.25 crores have been recovered from two robbers at Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area. The robbers were caught within 48 hours of the incident. Now, police is suspecting the involvement of some more hands in the robbery. This is not the first case of thievery of high-end cellphone. In April 2016, Delhi Police had busted a huge racket involving the stealing and selling of high-end cellphones, especially iPhones. 448 phones, including 310 Apple iPhones, worth Rs 2.5 crore market value were recovered from eight persons, including a DU graduate.
These iPhones were reportedly stolen from Delhi, Kerala, Bihar, Mumbai and Haryana. However, the quantum of latest thievery looks lesser than the previous one. In July, a Chennai-based Flipkart delivery agent was arrested for allegedly stealing a number of iPhones from his employer, before he slipped up and got nabbed by police. The agent would fake iPhone orders and then swapped the knockoffs for the real deal before returning them.
