The BJP alliance partner TDP has been openly criticising the Union Budget 2018 for its ‘unjust’ allocation to the state of Andhra Pradesh. TDP leaders have been staging protests outside Parliament from the day after the tabling of the Budget. However, the TDM MP from Chittoor Naramalli Sivaprasad has spiced up the demonstrations by staging one of its kind of protest. Using a unique method to protest, the TDP MP came dressed as a ‘tantrik’ and is reciting ‘mantras’ to draw the attention of the Centre towards the demand of the state government. Not only did he dress up like a tantrik but his hair-do was also done up in a similar fashion. He also put vermillion on his forehead to get into the skin of his character.
While speaking to a news channel, he said that Lord Venkatesh came to him and told him that PM Narendra Modi needs to be ‘careful’ while making promises. He added that Modi had promised many things to the state in front of all gods but now isn’t delivering on them. Thus, he needs to be cautious of his promises.

TDP MP Jayadev Galla, on Thursday, claimed that the allocation to the state of Andhra Pradesh is less than the life-time collection of the movie Baahubali. Both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were also adjourned, on February 5, following the protest. TDP president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, although has scrapped reports of breaking the alliance with the BJP, but has maintained that the protests will continue till their demand are met.
