In a huge blow for former Tehelka editor Tarun Tejpal, a Goa court today framed charges against him in a sexual assault case. As per India Today, the copy of charges have also been handed over to Tejpal, who has pleaded not guilty. Next hearing in the case will be on November 21. “Charges are framed and have been explained to Tarun Tejpal. He has pleaded not guilty to rape charge,” Public Prosecutor Francisco Taviera has been quoted as saying by ANI.
“Tarun Tejpal has pleaded not guilty to all charges”, the agency quoted him further.
On Tuesday, the Goa court upheld Mapusa sessions court order to move ahead with framing of charges against Tejpal but asked it to refrain from starting the trial till the court’s order. The court, while giving relief to the journalist said that no examination of first witness will be done till the High Court directs to do the same, Indian Express said.

The sessions court earlier this month had ordered framing of all rape charges against him. Tejpal has been accused of sexually assaulting a female colleague inside an elevator of a hotel on November 7, 2013, the paper repoted.
Tarun Tejpal, in his primary appeal had said that the charges against him are false. He also said that the state was delaying and took 3 years to hand over the evidence.In his reply, the prosecution said the trial should decide whether he is guilty or not, Indian Express added.
