The weather over Tamil Nadu is not clearing up leading to heavy rain today which have caused water logging in Chennai.
Normal life is being disrupted as water has entered houses, vehicles have been submerged and traffic is facing a chaotic situation on roads.
“We lost all our valuable items and have only managed to save our lives,” said Shanmughan, a Chennai resident.
In Tamil Nadu, rain has stopped in most parts of the state. This has helped relief measures by the administration.
The Met office has, however, forecast that rain or thundershowers will occur at many places in the state for the next four days.
The well-marked low pressure lying over west Bay of Bengal and Andhra coast will bring in isolated rainfall in north Tamil Nadu.
Chief Minister Jayalaithaa has announced four lakh rupees each for the families of those who died in rain-related incidents.
Due to the incessant rainfall, the death toll has increased to 87.
