A FIR has been filed against DMK leader Muthuvel Karunanidhi Stalin (M K Stalin) for protesting on February 19 after meeting with the Tamil Nadu Governor C Vidyasagar Rao. Stalin decided to go on a hunger strike as a sign of protest against the E Palaniswamy secret ballot. On Saturday, the Tamil Nadu MLAs met for the vote of trust of the newly appointed TN Chief Minister E Palaniswamy, he was expected to get a clear mandate as the AIADMK leader claimed the support of 124 MLAs which was more than what he needed to form the party. The only possible hurdle in his way could have been if the Speaker had accepted other political parties’ demand of secret ballot but he refused to. However, assembly speaker P Dhanapal gave a chance to MK Stalin, O Panneerselvam and R Natarajan in order to put his views forward, but things did not go as predicted and the DMK MLAs insulted the house by breaking chairs and tearing papers.
