External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is expected to undergo a kidney transplant this weekend at AIIMS in Delhi, PTI quoting sources reported on Tuesday. Earlier, the union minister was admitted in AIIMS after kidney failure. The AIIMS doctor told reporters that Swaraj is a diabetic patient, which was one of the causes, that hurt her kidneys. Although, she has been reported to be stable. He said that EAM Swaraj’s sugar level remains on a constant high, which is the cause that she was facing severe diabetic problems.
Many people have offered their kidneys to Sushma. According to an Indian Express report, an official at AIIMS has received many calls. “I cannot remember the exact number of calls that I have received. But I remember receiving around forty calls,’’ he said.
Last month, the minister had tweeted that she was in AIIMS due to the kidney failure.
“I am in AIIMS because of kidney failure. Presently, I am on dialysis. I am undergoing tests for a kidney transplant. Lord Krishna will bless,” Swaraj had tweeted.
The 64-year-old , who has been in and out of the hospital since few months, was admitted to India’s premiere hospital on November 7.
After she made public her health condition on social media, support had poured in for her with several people offering their kidneys for transplant.
Earlier she was admitted to AIIMS in April this for for pneumonia and other health issues.
