This may come as a shocker to many in the political spectrum. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on Sunday tweeted a picture featuring BSP supremo Mayawati along with other party heads. The tweet comes as a big surprise as it features once arch rival Samajwadi Party leader and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav. The tweet along with the picture also highlighted the importance of the Opposition’s unity for the beleaguered BSP at this point of time with the PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) running rampant across the poll landscape. Aside from Akhilesh Yadav, some other faces which featured along with Mayawati were West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, Tejaswi Yadav, Sonia Gandhi and Sharad Yadav.

In an initiative by RJD, United opposition is to hold a rally on 27th August in Patna, where Akhilesh Yadav is expected to participate from SP side. From BSP, it is not confirmed yet if Mayawati will be participating or not, though according to sources, leaders from BSP are confirmed to attend the rally. On the other hand, Congress has planned a mega Opposition rally in Gujarat on September 1, which the BSP supremo is expected to to attend. According to Congress sources, one of the first ones who agreed to be a part of this rally was Mayawati.

But, some doubt about the veracity of the poster has been raised. Even as this tweet by BSP has come to light and is being treated as an official handout (BSP’s official Twitter handle is verified), but UP BSP leader Ram Achal Rajbhar has said that it is not the party’s account.
