Senior Congress leader and former Union minister Shashi Tharoor today lashed out at a journalist and a television channel over the alleged new ‘revelations’ in connection with the death of his wife Sunanda Pushkar that were aired on Monday. Tharoor took to Twitter to vent his anger. “A so-called journalist comes w/an agenda2disrupt the rest of the media in order to create attention for his channel. Not interested in truth,” Tharoor tweeted today. Accusing the TV channel of only trying to ‘attract TRPs’, the Congress MP from Thiruvananthapuram added, “I have nothing to hide from the police and the courts.” He added, “Came out to find dozens of cameras. Tried2say a few words to them but kept being interrupted by a cretin seeking 2 make the news, not report it.”

Tharoor last night had termed reports appearing in the television channel in connection with the death of his wife as “misrepresentations and outright lies”. Tharoor in a Facebook post elaborated his stand by saying, “Exasperating farrago of distortions, misrepresentations and outright lies being broadcast by an unprincipled showman masquerading as a journalist”. The former UN diplomat said, “I am angered that someone would exploit a human tragedy for personal gain and TRPs. I challenge him to prove his false claims in a court of law”.
