Pakistani columnist Mehr Tarar has denied having any ‘proximity’ or ‘relationship’ with Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, according to Delhi police sources.
Sources said Tarar was questioned by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Delhi police in February this year in connection with the probe into alleged murder of Tharoor’s wife Sunanda Pushkar.
Tarar was told about the allegations leveled against her by Pushkar’s close friend Nalini Singh.
Sources said that Tarar was also questioned about the spat between her and Pushkar in January-February 2014.
Last year, then Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi was reported to have said that Tarar was a “relevant link” in the case.
Pushkar was found dead in a New Delhi hotel in 2014. Just a day before her death, Pushkar had a spat on Twitter with Tarar over the latter’s alleged affair with Tharoor.
“If necessary, we will question her. We will try and get in touch with her because she is a relevant person who can throw some light into the case,” Bassi was quoted as saying by PTI.
Tarar had also responded she was ready to be quizzed.
