Congress VP Rahul Gandhi was detained at Mandir Marg PS for ‘disrupting of duty’ after hew wasn’t allowed to visit the family of ex-serviceman Ram Kishan Grewal, who committed suicide earlier in the day over the issue of One Rank One Pension scheme (OROP). Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was also reported to have been detained by the Delhi Police after the incident. Congress party members were seen protesting against the detention of Rahul Gandhi. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was also seen agitated at the detention of the deputy CM and termed the act by police as “gundagardi”. Kejriwal said that they had a cabinet meeting on Wednesday which they had to cancel due to the unfair detention.
Meanwhile, Special commissioner of Delhi, S K Meena justified the act by police and said that no politician was allowed in the hospital as they were causing disturbances. Speaking about the allegations of disruption of democracy, he said that democracy did not mean obstruction. He further stated that the political leaders must understand that a hospital was no place to hold demonstrations.

He directly spoke about AAP politicians and said that they only came to the hospital to create disturbance. Earlier, 70-year-old ex-serviceman Ram Kishan Grewal committed suicide by consuming poison at a park in New Delhi area. Speaking on this, his son in a conversation with ANI said that Ram before taking the big step called up his family and told them that he was doing so because the government had failed to fulfil the demands related to OROP.
