A special court in Bhind today issued an arrest warrant against Madhya Pradesh minister Lal Singh Arya in the 2009 murder case of Congress MLA Makhanlal Jatav but stayed its execution till June 3. The court stayed the warrant against Minister of State for General Administration Department Arya shortly after issuing it, on a plea made by the minister’s counsel soon after the issuance of warrant.

The court had issued the warrant while admitting a plea under section 319 of the CrPC, made by slain MLA’s son Ranveer Jatav for including the minister as an accused in the case, said Jatav’s counsel Rampratap Singh. After the issuance of the warrant, Arya’s lawyer Avdhesh Singh Kushwaha filed a plea against the warrant urging the court to stay it. Kushwaha said the special judge stayed the execution of order till June 3.

As many as eight people were named as accused in the Jatav murder case, but Arya’s name had not figured in the list of the accused at that time.
