Sonia Gandhi stable and recovering at Army Hospital R&R in Delhi

After falling sick during her campaign in Varanasi, Sonia Gandhi has been admitted to the Army Hospital R&R, Dhaula Kuan in New Delhi.

After falling sick during her campaign in Varanasi, Sonia Gandhi has been admitted to the Army Hospital R&R, Dhaula Kuan in New Delhi. Randeep Surjewala, MLA, Congress has informed that her condition is stable and the Congress chief is well on her way to recovering. Defence Minister Manohar Parikar is to visit Gandhi today. Earlier on Tuesday, Gandhi was reported to have been suffering from high fever during her visit to Varanasi and her campaign had to be cancelled due to the same. The rally had attracted thousands of people on the streets. Mrs. Gandhi is known to have been battling an infection that made her skip Parliament on Monday. The event which was initially expected to last for around two hours went on for five hours, causing Mrs. Gandhi to fall ill.

Gandhi launched her party’s campaign for the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly election in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s constituency Varanasi.The roadshow began with Gandhi putting a garland at the statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The campaign saw a huge turnout, which contrasted with the party’s negligible presence in Uttar Pradesh. She had headed back to the capital after the discontinuation of the campaign due to illness. In a statement issued later, Gandhi said that nothing has really changed in the state, and the weak and poor are suffering from atrocities. She added that the women had to bear the burden of the rise in prices and unemployment has become a major issue under the new regime. the huge turnout at the roadshow comes as a huge boost for the party, as it hopes to make a big impact in the upcoming assembly elections.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his concerns about the well-being of Mrs. Gandhi on Twitter. Congress had launched its campaign two weeks ago as they named former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit as their CM candidate for the state.
