Congress President Sonia Gandhi was on Wednesday shifted to Ganga Ram hospital after getting discharged from Army Research and Referral Hospital. High fever & dehydration forced the Congress chief to cut short a successful roadshow in PM Modi's constituency Varanasi on Tuesday.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi was on Wednesday shifted to Ganga Ram hospital after getting discharged from Army Research and Referral Hospital.  She was admitted to the hospital at 1:30 PM under care of Dr Arup Basu & team from Dept of Pulmonology. High fever & dehydration forced the Congress chief to cut short a successful roadshow in PM Modi’s constituency Varanasi on Tuesday. According to reports, Sonia had fever for the past three days but had decided to go ahead with the roadshow. However, Sheila Dikshit today said that Sonia got sick due to frequent in & out of AC during rally. “Sonia Gandhi ji got sick due to frequent in & out of AC during rally (in Varanasi), she is now recovering”.

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar also visited Congress president today at the Army Research And Referral Hospital. Sonia Gandhi said that she was “saddened” that she had to cut short her Varanasi visit because she fell sick. “I will come back very soon, and then visit the Kashi Vishwanath Temple,” she said. The Congress president issued a statement after the roadshow in which she attacked the BJP and slammed its slogan ‘Congress-mukt Bharat’. “The BJP government is a government of a few and the powerful. The Congress is not just a group but an idea that binds India,” Sonia said in her statement. She also thanked the people of Varanasi for their support.

PM Narendra Modi spoke to Congress leader Sheila Dikshit and enquired about Sonia’s health. He also offered to help by sending a doctor and a plane for Sonia to return to Delhi, news agency ANI said, quoting sources.
