A hospital guest-house, meant for the public, in Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi, which was allegedly being used by a Congress leader for political purposes, has now been vacated, Union Minister Smriti Irani revealed on Tuesday. She took to Twitter to say, “After 3 yrs of persistent efforts, Hospital Guest House in Amethi that was used by Congress leader for political purpose is finally vacated.” She added, “Glad that someone in UP took into account representations of people of Amethi & ensured rightful use of hospital guest house. Despite being aware of the fact that hospitals cannot be usurped for political activity, Congress leader continued to do so,” Irani alleged further.
Irani, despite losing in her bid to get elected from Amethi to the Lok Sabha, has been raising issues of public concerns in the constituency on a regular basis. Recently, Irani had slammed Rahul Gandhi for having no time for the people of his constituency. She also accused the Nehru-Gandhi family of doing little for the development of the district. “When I came here in 2014, I saw that it is in the grip of a political family. The political family has not thought about the development of Amethi and its people. Another point of concern is that a Member of Parliament does not have any time for his constituency and people,” the BJP leader was quoted as saying by PTI.
Earlier she had slammed Rahul Gandhi for his remarks that PM Narendra Modi stalled Food Project in Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi. “Rahulji claims Modiji stopped food park; When Congress was in power, it didn’t allocate power plant needed for food park,” Irani had said. On a visit to the constituency last month, Irani had again accused Gandhi of not paying proper attention to the Amethi-Unchahar railway link work for which was announced by the UPA government in 2013. Commenting upon the same, Irani said, “Rahul Gandhi used to talk about linking Amethi to Unchahar through the railway line. I can challenge that his four generations would not have got this work completed, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi has got this work started and the day is not far when it will be a reality.”
