India is a cricket crazy country. People have always been passionate about the sport but often fail to understand where they have to draw the line. In a shocking incident, a Noida-based man killed two brothers after they got into an argument with him during a cricket match. According to a report by The Indian Express, about three months ago, Gulshan Singh (20) was asked to fetch a cricket ball during a match in a colony park near Barola village of Noida.
When Singh refused to do so, it led to an argument between him and two brothers: Umesh (21) and Yogesh Sharma (17). The report quoted police saying that Singh felt that Umesh had tried to deliberately irk him. A few hours later, the dead bodies of both the brothers were found lying in a pool of blood next to a drain near Singh’s residence. “It was strange that two young men were murdered and no one in the vicinity, none of the neighbours were in a position to say anything about the reason behind it. Even the family members were not in a position to say anything. But this is what we found after questioning the arrested persons, as well as the family,” SP City Arun Kumar Singh told IE about the incident.
The police have already arrested Gulshan Singh and his father OM Kumar Singh, his elder brother is yet to be arrested. Singh added that Gulshan accepted that there was an argument during the cricket match. “No one imagined that this tussle will take such a turn. There had been no police complaint in the incident. None of the accused persons have any previous police records,” he added.
Singh told police that he had given a motorcycle to his father and was walking back when Umesh hit him on the shoulder. “He claimed that when he objected, he was verbally abused and threatened. Around 5-7 minutes later, the brothers reached his house. He claimed he was scared after being threatened by them, and attacked them with a knife. One of the victims was fatally injured. While fleeing, the other victim fell and Singh attacked him with the same knife,” the officer alleged.
