Following investigation on the 2012 Sheena Bora murder case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today filed its second supplementary charge sheet in a special CBI court in Mumbai. With fresh proofs against the prime accused Indrani Mukherjea, her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and her husband, former CEO of Star India, Peter Mukherjea, the hearing on the charge sheet is set to begin tomorrow.
Though Peter Mukherjea’s lawyer sought two week time to study the chargesheet before the hearing, the court rejected the plea. The accused are presently behind bars, with charges of allegedly murdering their daughter Sheena Bora and the court repeatedly rejecting their bail plea. Sheena was allegedly strangled to death by Indrani and Sanjeev, taking the help of their driver. The murder was first reported after the driver, being detained for some other case, confessed to the police and also took the police to the site where Sheena Bora’s body was burnt in Raigad district. Later police forensic report confirmed the death of the 25-year old.
Peter Mukherjea’s son Rahul Mukherjea, who was in a relationship with Sheena, also confirmed in a police statement that Sheena was last seen with Indrani and Sanjeev. Blaming Indrani of the murder, Sanjeev Khanna became the approver of the case. Indrani Mukherjea, her former driver Shyamvar P Rai and ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna are in police custody since August 2015.
