Congress leader and minister in Bihar cabinet Ashok Choudhary has said that leaders who are a part of grand alliance (JDU-RJD-Congress alliance) should respect the position of Chief Minister. The leader was reacting on the recent remarks made by former Siwan MP Mohammad Shahabuddin, who recently came out on bail after 11 years.  Choudhary said that the scenario is changed, it’s not like it used to be a year ago.  He said that disrespecting CM sends out wrong message to masses. “Leaders in mahagathbandhan mustn’t disrespect CM’s position while in alliance. This sends wrong message to people,” Choudhary was quoted as saying by ANI. Choudhary said that anyone having disagreement with Nitish’s appointment as CM is free to leave his party.  “Each party was independent a year & half ago, if you feel grand alliance isn’t working fine, everyone is free to leave,” said Choudhary.

Shahabuddin, the undisputed don of Siwan, had called Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar ‘a CM of circumstances’ and compared his appointment to that of Jharkhand’s former CM Madhu Koda. Shahabuddin had said, “Nitish Kumar became a Chief Minister due to circumstances, just like Madhu Koda did in Jharkhand.”

The leader, who has been an arch critic of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, bluntly said that the latter is not his leader. “He may be the leader of the House, but he is not my leader, my leader is Lalu Prasad Yadav,” Shahabuddin had said.
After the comments started to draw criticism, RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav came out to defend Shahabuddin. Lalu said that Nitish has got no problem with Shahabuddin’s statement, ‘he has said nothing wrong’.
