With the furore over Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kailash Vijayvargiya’s controversial comments for Shah Rukh Khan, the Congress on Wednesday demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally render an apology to the king of Bollywood.

“I strongly condemn Kailash Vijavargiya’s statement. Modi should personally apologise to Shah Rukh Khan. Shah Rukh don’t worry we stand by you,” Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh tweeted.

Training his guns on Arun Jaitley, who had recently dismissed reports of intolerance in the nation, Singh asked the Finance Minister if Vijavargiya statement counted as ‘tolerance or intolerance’.

“Kailash Vijavargiya National Gen Secy BJP-“Shah Rukh Khan is a Traitor” Do Modi and Amit Shah endorse his opinion? Would they act against him?,” Singh added.

Vijayvargiya had earlier painted Shah Rukh Khan as an ‘anti-nationalist’ and condemned him over his “extreme intolerance” comment, saying his “soul” was in Pakistan though he lives in India.

“Shah Rukh lives in India, but his soul is in Pakistan. His films make crores here but he thinks India to be intolerant,” he said in a series of tweets amid mounting concerns over the “climate of intolerance” in the country.

“If this is not anti-nationalist, then what is it? India is making a bid to become a permanent member of the United Nations and all the anti-Indian forces including Pakistan are creating a conspiracy,” he said.

Shah Rukh Khan had openly stated that there was ‘extreme intolerance’ in the country, saying intolerance towards creativity and religion will hurt the country.

“There is intolerance, there is extreme intolerance… I think there is growing intolerance,” he said.

SRK loves to create these sorts of issues. He gives some irresponsible statement & some s will respond in kind and then more moo la flows into his bank accounts in the form of more people watching his movies.

This is high time for the PM to see that this type of irresponsible and immature comments by his party-men are stopped for ever.

The person who want to bring PM of India in bluddy controversy over SRK is like that asking to decide his own lineage(father) by making DNA test over him.

Anyway this was in bad taste. If the MPs and party workers do not respect or are not afraid of violating PMs diktats then is it called good governance? We bow head in shame. All these sadhus and sadhwis should stay back at their ashrams or temples and teach tolerance instead of entering politics and propagate intolerance.

Those who by their act or activity giving India, a bad name , are anti-national and not those who are exposing them

Looks like Congress has no other business then to pick every small mistakes and make it a national topic. More importantly its the media who needs to keep restraint and find some other news to publish.

Shahrukh's entire paternal family lives in Peshawar, stan. Shah Rukh's father Taj Muhammad did his graduation from Peshawar, was active in student politics and had affiliation with All Indian National Congress. First of all he is stani. Secondly he is connected to congress. Not surprised to hear that Sharukh is blaming INDIA.

Not at all necessary. For each and every person who expresses his opinion and got into the net of controversy and subsequent controversy on him and so on. Is this the duty of the PM to come to every individual and compromise him. Whether the suggestion is acceptable at all?

Exactly! The ex-PM couldnt speak at all. Guess the Congress wants the current PM to make up for that!
