Saurabh Patel an MLA from Gujarat is the urban face of Bharatiya Janta Party in the state. An MLA representing Vadodara city is highly educated having done his MBA from the USA. He holds the post of State Cabinet Minister in the Anandiben Patel led state government. He holds a lot of portfolios in the government, for Energy & Petrochemicals, Mines & Minerals, Cottage Industry, Salt Industry, Printing, Stationery, Planning, Tourism, Civil Aviation, finance and Labour & Employment. In the wake of one of the biggest Dalit uprising and Gujarat being in turmoil, Chief minister Anandiben Patel resigned from the post, and she wrote in a Facebook post citing reasons that she was old now and it was time for new leadership to take over. The government had to face a lot of criticism after four Dalit youths were thrashed in Una on July 11 for allegedly skinning a dead cow.

He is said to be the brain behind Asia’s biggest solar power project, and also the pilot project of rooftop Solar Panel canal.
Patel has succeeded in making an Energy Negative Building in Gandhinagar. Patel even tweeted, after Anandiben’s resignation, about the launch of a new electricity substation in Jamnagar.
