Bringing forth the chaos in Samajawadi Party (SP), Shivpal Yadav expelled minister of state for forests Pawan Pandey on the accusation of beating up party MLC Ashu Malik on October 24. He has also written to UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav recommending Pandey be sacked from the cabinet too. However, Pandey denied the allegations and said that he will continue working to strengthen party with a target to ensure that Akhilesh becomes CM again after the 2017 polls.
Pawan Pandey or Tej Narain Pandey had proven as a strog pillar in making the SP government in 2012 after winning his seat against the BJP’s Lallu Singh in Ayodhya, a safforn stronghold. Lallu Singh had been MLA from the seat for five consecutive terms. Receiving praise from both SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh, this first-time MLA from Ayodhya was made minister of state for Entertainment Tax. Though, the was removed as minister along with three others after the party’s poor showing in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Pandey seemed to regained Akhilesh’s confidence, as he was reinducted in 2015, this time as minister of state for forests.
But now the minister is having hard time with the allegation of assault by the party state president. When contacted, Pandey denied the assault. “This is a conspiracy against me. No such incident has happened,” he said.
“I will continue working to strengthen Samajwadi Party, Netaji (Mulayam) and Akhilesh with a target to ensure that Akhilesh becomes CM again after the 2017 polls. The SP is in my heart and spirit and that cannot be removed by merely a letter issued by Shivpal Yadav,” he added.
