Rio Olympic Bronze medalist Sakshi Malik is all set to marry her wrestler boyfriend Satyawart Kadian in the next 4 days. On 16 October, last year she got engaged to her boyfriend, who is also a Commonwealth games medal winner. Her engagement ceremony was a private affair, with only family members attending the event. Sakshi and Satyawart have known each other for quite a long time but their marriage was decided by their parents – in effect, it is an arranged marriage. Satyawart, who is the son of an Arjuna awardee was trained in the ‘Akhada’ run by his own father. The decision to marry was taken way before Sakshi left for her Rio Olympics match.
Satyawart Kadian is a junior wrestler and had won a bronze medal in 2010 Youth Olympics. In 2013, he was the only Indian who won a Bronze against Turkish opposition in the World Youth Wrestling Championships. He had also won a bronze medal in the 2014 Asian Wrestling Championship. He has represented India in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland and the Asian Games in the same year. He has also competed and won bronze medal in 94-kg weight class
Sakshi Malik represented India in Rio Olympics 2o16 and brought laurels to India by winning the bronze medal.She has also been honored with the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, the highest sporting honor in the country. Sakshi has been training at Sir Chottu Ram Stadium Wrestling Academy in Rohtak.
Both Sakshi Malik and Satyawart Kadian hail from Rohtak, Haryana and are going marry in the coming week.
