Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today has urged the Center to delay the crackdown. This time Yadav has written to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley seeking an extension in the currency scrapping day till November 30. Akhilesh, who has been continuously trying to find out the loopholes in Center’s decision to scrap 500 and 1000 notes, has once again approached the Center and urged for extension. In his recent statements, he urged the Center to ensure that the decision to scrap 500 and 1000 notes did not have any contrary impact effects on the poor people especially farmers and villagers. The Samajwadi Party Supremo in the poll-bound state also said the Center should have special arrangements such as camps in rural areas for exchanging existing currency notes where banks are not easily accessible. He also asked the center government to allow the use of 500, 1000 notes for expenditure in upcoming marriage season and crop harvesting.

As per the Uttar Pradesh CM, scrapping off the 500 and 1000 notes is not a permanent solution to tackle black money and corruption. He also said that the decision might have been taken keeping in mind the upcoming UP assembly polls.

Commenting on the issue BJP President Amit Shah during a recent press conference said that the government has taken an important decision to declare currency notes of 500 and 1000 as void to fight black money. Common people of the country need not worry at all and we are doing everything possible to bring down things back to normal, he added.
