He explained that this was a big blow to terrorists, Naxalites, fake currencies and hawala operators. He said the all the citizens of the country have liked the significant decision taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. he said that the common and the poor people should not be worried by the decision. He said that black money affects the development of the country and seemed genuinely surprised by the opposition the government was facing by some political parties.

Shah said that he did not understand as to why the opposition was protesting the decision taken by the government when it would help the economy to improve and the prices to go down. he asked the opposition a to why they seemed pained by the decision. The BJP National President requested the media to support the government in this move to eradicate corruption and the institution of black money from the country.

Earlier Prime Minister in a shocking announcement on November 8 had said that Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes would be banned from midnight. While the decision had garnered praise from different spheres for being a bold step in checking the transaction of black money, it had also caused a lot of inconvenience to the common man. Banks and ATMs had been declared shut for 2 days and following the opening of these institutions, massive crowds had gathered to deposit their unusual cash in their accounts or exchange them for the new bills.
