“It is absolutely shocking to learn that Arvind Kejriwal’s electricity bill for two consecutive months is approximately one lakh rupees. We are reminded of the fact that while campaigning for election, Mr. Kejriwal had said that they were ordinary people and they wanted to lead ordinary life: would not take government bungalows, would not use beacon cars and when the electricity bill comes, it appears that they are not so ‘common’. They have in fact turned themselves into VIPs,” said BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra.
“We had seen in yesteryears also as to how in the same bungalow, Sheila Dikshit the previous chief minister was using 25-26 air conditioners. So, naturally there is no distinction today between Arvind Kejriwal and Sheila Dikshit,” he added.
The electricity bill of Arvind Kejriwal’s Civil Lines residence was about Rs. 91,000 for the months of April and May, according to an RTI reply.
