Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has rejected explanation given by his deputy beleaguered Tejashwi Yadav. This comes as pressure mounted on RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav’s son to resign after the Deputy CM was named in a FIR filed by CBI in the land for hotels case, according to Republic TV report. In a stern message, Nitish told Tejashwi to explain the situation to people of the state who gave him the mandate. While ruling out any possible compromise, Nitish said the case registered as there was substantial evidence. The alleged rift in the Grand Alliance in the state continues to hit the headlines.

Yesterday, Tejashwi had attended a Cabinet meeting chaired by CM Kumar. After the meeting, Deputy CM Yadav went to the CM’s chamber. Tejashwi’s minister brother Tej Pratap Yadav and state Congress chief and minister Ashok Choudhary too were present in the CM’s room. It has been learned that JD(U) had demanded Tejashwi to explain the alleged acquisition of massive wealth.

Tejashwi had on Saturday skipped a government function in which he had to share dais with the chief minister.

BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi had asked Kumar to sack Tejeshwi to protect his image and his government. Modi alleged that Tejashwi has amassed 26 properties at the age of 26 without declaring his sources of income.

Yesterday many RJD ministers assembled at the residence of former Chief Minister Rabri Devi and moved together for the Cabinet meeting from there in a motorcade.

Nitish has very few options if he wants to retain his zero tolerance for corruption image he has to ask his deputy to resign and continue with the alliance. Otherwise, he has to break away from the mahagatabandhan and join hands with BJP. The second option is more likely to happen within a few days which is evident from the way the JD(U) spokespersons are speaking in the media.

      1. All citizens should support Shri Nitish Kumar who has taken a principled stand in the context of FIR filed against Tejaswi Yadav for different properties in his name. Another report today said that Tejaswi Yadav is owner of 24 properties. 2. It is rather very awkward situation for Bihar’s Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar. If he does not press for resignation of Tejaswi Yadav, he would be accused of not taking any action to protect his government. If he demands resignation, he would be accused of breaking the alliance with BJP’s hidden support. In any case, I think, Shri Nitish Kumar has to take a decision. It would be better if asks for resignation of Tejaswi Yadav and that would be seen as an act of political maturity whatever his critics may say.
