Having met the Indian Air Force crew members today, yoga guru Ramdev had expressed pride, appreciating the initiative to have Indian-made Aakash missile in the defence base.
Sharing a picture on social networking site, Facebook, Ramdev added a caption that read, “I am proud of our great Indian airforce. Now in the area of defence also we have swadeshi option in form of Aakash missile.”
Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) for Missile Systems, Ordnance Factories Board and Bharat Electronics (BEL) in India, the Akash missiles can fly at a supersonic speed ranging from Mach 2.8 to 3.5 and can hit aerial targets up to a range of approximately 25 km. The missile inducted into the Indian Air Force last year, after three decades of project plans, can neutralise aerial targets like fighter jets, cruise missiles and air-to-surface missiles.
On the Facebook post shared by the yoga guru, while many mocked and criticised Ramdev for the ‘swadeshi’ comment, others hailed praises of nationalism, as they reacted the post through comments.
